LPGas Systems

With the advent of rising fuel costs, AXT Turbo looked into alternate Fuels which would not compromise any aspect of the original vehicle OR our Turbo systems.

With the myriad of options available, our R&D dept. examined the multitude of possibilities that are available, and came up with the best systems available, while still maintaining a reasonable "cost-basis".

I.E. : Any initial cost MUST be able to be absorber through lower operational costs within a reasonable period of time.

This lead to a long term project becoming reality :

The AXT/GRA Gas system : Many years ago, AXT utilised the resources of Gas Research in order to develop a DIESEL GAS ( LPG ) System.

Diesel combined with relatively small LPG mixtures provides a much more complete burn of the diesel fuel, providing power and economy increases.

Richer Gas mixtures are able to provide further power increases, however unless critically controlled through the use of "live" exhaust gas analysis, this can be detrimental to engine life.

AXT Turbo's engineers have always preferred to "err on the side of caution" so do not expect ludicrous power gain figures.

With a minor LPG mixture , you can expect a return of approx 10% more power, with a 10% diesel economy gain.

This ultimately means that a LPG Gas addition on a turbo diesel engine will pay for itself is about 12 months with the $2000 Gov. Grant...

For Petrol based Engines , a complete dual fuel system , again based on the Gas Research system is also available. The Gas Research Carbie is the most exacting way of delivering fuel into a high performance turbocharged engine.

The design of both GRA systems, is most suitable for all "off-road" situations, as there is no major electronic modules to fail when you least expect it.

As with all things , further R&D has lead us down the path of Injected LPG.

With some systems already available for late model turbo diesels, and a new upcoming sequential injection system coming for late model petrol based engine, you can be assured we will have a system for your vehicle very soon.

LPGAS FACTS

LPGas technology is not a new technology, it has only been with recent economic events that it has become commercially viable.

LPGas will really only be a cost effective technology for about 10years, as Fuel excise will eventually be introduced, like it or not.

LPGas is ultimately a much "cleaner and greener" fuel, BUT only when tuned correctly. Many early systems are still available on the market, which run incredibly high fuel / air mixtures when running. These type of systems are just as bad for the atmosphere, as any other poorly tuned engine.

LPGas does have a higher octane rating than common petrol, however relying on this is not a good thing. Auto LPGas is made from a mixture of Propane and Butane Gases, plus some other goodies thrown in. Many retailers vary the gas mixtures depending on the season or even the cost basis. Odd gas mixtures can create strange combustion, leading to potential engine damage if tuned to 10/10ths on LPG. Always allow some "headroom" in tuning...
